02Start with your account
- Sign in your way.
Use Google, email, or X through Privy. ShareStocks creates an embedded wallet for your account, so you can get started without setting up a separate wallet app.
- Open your wallet.
Click your wallet address in the navbar to see your ETH and USDG balances, copy your address, or open your portfolio.
- Add funds when you want to buy.
Purchases use ETH or USDG on Robinhood Chain. Check the network before transferring funds, and keep some ETH available for buying, gifting, selling, and sending transactions.
Receiving a new gift is different: you can sign in and claim without first adding ETH. ShareStocks pays the network fee for that claim.
03Send something meaningful
- Find their company.
Explore the stocks page, search by name or ticker, and open a stock to see its chart and trading options.
- Choose how to give.
Open Gift, enter the recipient’s email or X handle, and choose whether to buy stock tokens using ETH or USDG or gift tokens you already hold. X gifting is available when account lookup is enabled.
- Review and confirm.
Check the recipient, token amount, fees, and expiry. A gift is ready only after the tokens have been deposited into escrow and the transaction is confirmed.
- Share the gift link.
Copy the link and send it to the recipient yourself. ShareStocks does not automatically send an email or X message. Track the gift in My gifts.
Giving to yourself works too. Use an email or X account linked to your sign-in, then claim the gift into your wallet.
04A gift waiting for you
Open the gift link and sign in with the email or X account it was sent to. You will see the stock, token amount, and claim deadline. Select Claim stock tokens and wait for confirmation.
New gifts use our V2 escrow. ShareStocks submits the claim and pays its network fee, so you do not need an ETH balance or a wallet transaction approval to receive it. The tokens are delivered to your verified embedded wallet.
A link alone cannot claim a gift. ShareStocks verifies the recipient’s account and binds the claim to their wallet. For X gifts, the account’s stable ID is used, so a username change alone does not give someone else access.
Once confirmed, your tokens appear in Your portfolio. Claiming transfers the stock tokens; it does not sell them.
05Make it yours
Your portfolio shows the stock tokens held in your embedded wallet. Open a holding to see its stock page, give it to someone else, or send tokens to a wallet address.
To sell, choose Sell on the stock page or in your portfolio, select ETH or USDG, and review the quote. Proceeds return to your wallet after a successful swap. USDG is Global Dollar, a separate token from USDC or a bank USD balance.
Quotes depend on available liquidity. Check the minimum received and fees before confirming; an estimated portfolio value is not a guaranteed selling price. Selling and sending still require ETH for network gas.
06Know what you’re paying
Buying tokens for a gift adds a 0.5% ShareStocks fee to your entered purchase amount, in the currency you pay with. Checkout shows the fee and total before you confirm.

Plus network gas. Swap fees and price impact affect the stock tokens received.
Gifting tokens already in your wallet has no ShareStocks purchase fee. Ordinary purchases and sales outside gift checkout do not include this gift fee. Network and liquidity-provider fees may still apply.
The gift purchase fee is collected when the swap succeeds. It is not refunded if a later deposit fails or the gift expires. ShareStocks covers the claim gas for new V2 gifts, subject to service availability and network conditions.
07What happens while a gift waits
Funded gifts are held in an escrow contract until claimed or refunded. New gifts have a 30-day claim window from preparation; the deadline on the gift page is the one to follow.
A sender cannot cancel a funded gift before expiry. If it remains unclaimed after the deadline, the sender can open My gifts and select Refund. This returns the deposited stock tokens, not their original cash value. Refunds require a transaction and ETH for gas.
The escrow has no administrative withdrawal function. Claims depend on ShareStocks verifying the recipient and authorizing the transfer. Service interruptions can delay a claim, so allow time before the deadline.
You can inspect the V2 contract on the explorer and its verified source code. Source verification confirms a bytecode match; it is not an independent security audit.
08Reading the market
Explore brings together stock-token prices, liquidity, trading volume, and 24-hour changes from GeckoTerminal. Charts draw a line through closing prices from real trading data.
Prices and charts can be delayed or temporarily unavailable. Saved data is labeled, and an unavailable price or change is not treated as zero. The quote you review before a trade determines its execution terms.
Stock tokens can lose value, and liquidity can change. Availability in the explorer does not establish eligibility to trade. Review the Terms of Service and the issuer’s documents linked there before using the service.
09A few things you might wonder
Do I need to buy a whole token?
No. You can buy or gift fractional token amounts, subject to the amount supported by the available swap route.
What if I sign in with the wrong account?
Sign out and use the email or X account the gift was addressed to. Having the link does not give another account permission to claim.
My purchase succeeded, but the gift did not finish. What now?
Buying and depositing are separate transactions. If the swap succeeds but the deposit does not, the tokens stay in your wallet. Check your portfolio and transaction status before purchasing again; a pending deposit can be verified from My gifts.
What if claiming takes longer than expected?
Wait for confirmation and use Check claim status if it appears. The app keeps the pending transaction so checking again does not submit a duplicate successful claim. A temporary service error may require trying again later.
Do older gifts also use the new claim flow?
Gifts created on the original V1 contract keep their original claim flow and its Privy gas-sponsorship requirements. Existing deposits cannot be moved to V2 by changing the website.
